- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- Chocolate sauce (for dipping)
- Optional: whipped cream or ice cream (for serving)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium until boiling, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and add flour, stirring vigorously until a ball forms (1-2 minutes).
- Let the dough cool for 5 minutes to prevent cooking the eggs.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe dough into 4-6 inch strips on the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and firm. Keep an eye on them to avoid over-baking.
- While baking, mix 1/4 cup sugar with cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Let churros cool for 5 minutes after baking, then roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Serve warm with chocolate sauce for dipping, and optionally with whipped cream or ice cream.
