Indulge in a vibrant Butterfly Pea Flower Tea Latte, a delightful blend of antioxidant-rich butterfly pea flower tea and creamy milk. This visually stunning drink can be enjoyed hot or iced, making it a perfect treat for any occasion. Garnish with edible flowers or mint for an extra touch of elegance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond, oat, or coconut milk)
  • 12 tablespoons sweetener (honey, agave syrup, or sugar, to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Ice cubes (for iced version)
  • Edible flowers or mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil 2 cups of water in a medium saucepan until it reaches a rolling boil.
  2. Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of dried butterfly pea flowers. Stir gently to submerge the flowers.
  3. Cover and steep for 10-15 minutes, depending on desired color intensity.
  4. Strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof container and set aside to cool slightly.
  5. In a small saucepan, pour in 1 cup of your chosen milk.
  6. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warm but not boiling. Froth if desired.
  7. Add 1-2 tablespoons of sweetener and stir until dissolved.
  8. Optionally, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  9. Pour the brewed butterfly pea flower tea into a large mug or glass.
  10. Slowly pour the warm milk over the tea, creating a beautiful blend of colors. For a layered effect, pour over the back of a spoon.
  11. Gently stir to combine, being careful not to disturb the layers too much.
  12. For an iced version, fill a glass with ice cubes before pouring in the tea and milk mixture.
  13. For a hot version, enjoy as is.
  14. Garnish with edible flowers or a sprig of mint for a visually appealing touch.

Notes

  • Experiment with steeping times for different color and flavor intensities.
  • Try various types of milk to find your preferred taste and texture.
  • Adding a splash of lemon juice can change the color to a beautiful purple hue.
