- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Ice cubes (for iced version)
- Edible flowers or mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Boil 2 cups of water in a medium saucepan until it reaches a rolling boil.
- Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of dried butterfly pea flowers. Stir gently to submerge the flowers.
- Cover and steep for 10-15 minutes, depending on desired color intensity.
- Strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof container and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a small saucepan, pour in 1 cup of your chosen milk.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warm but not boiling. Froth if desired.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of sweetener and stir until dissolved.
- Optionally, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
- Pour the brewed butterfly pea flower tea into a large mug or glass.
- Slowly pour the warm milk over the tea, creating a beautiful blend of colors. For a layered effect, pour over the back of a spoon.
- Gently stir to combine, being careful not to disturb the layers too much.
