Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, preferably large and ripe
- 8 ounces high-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher)
- 4 ounces white chocolate
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for a smoother chocolate)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
- Sprinkles or edible glitter (for decoration, optional)
- Parchment paper (for cooling)
Instructions
- Rinse the strawberries gently under cold water, avoiding soaking.
- Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels until completely dry.
- Place the strawberries on a plate or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- For the double boiler method, fill a medium saucepan with about an inch of water and bring it to a simmer.
- In a heatproof bowl, add the dark chocolate and coconut oil (if using).
- Place the bowl over the simmering water, stirring occasionally until melted and smooth (about 5-7 minutes).
- For the microwave method, heat the dark chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
- Stir in the vanilla extract (if using) once melted.
- Repeat the melting process for the white chocolate in a separate bowl.
- Dip each strawberry by the green stem into the melted dark chocolate, swirling to coat.
- Allow excess chocolate to drip off and place on the parchment-lined plate.
- While the dark chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with edible glitter or sprinkles if desired.
- Drizzle melted white chocolate over the dark chocolate-covered strawberries using a fork or piping bag.
- Optionally, dip some strawberries halfway in white chocolate before drizzling with dark chocolate.
- Refrigerate the plate of chocolate-covered strawberries for about 30 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
- Alternatively, place them in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, watching closely to prevent freezing.
- Carefully remove the strawberries from the parchment paper and arrange them on a serving platter.
- Serve fresh and enjoy! Best consumed within a day or two.
Notes
- Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
- Feel free to customize the toppings with different sprinkles or nuts for added texture.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
