- 4 large bagels (plain or your favorite flavor)
- 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup assorted toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)
- Parmesan cheese (for sprinkling, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice each bagel in half horizontally.
- Place the bagel halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. Brush the cut sides lightly with olive oil if desired.
- If using store-bought pizza sauce, pour it into a bowl. For homemade, combine crushed tomatoes, a pinch of salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of oregano in a saucepan and simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Chop any vegetables you want to use, such as bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms. Slice or crumble any meats like pepperoni or sausage.
- In a small bowl, mix the dried oregano and garlic powder.
- Spread a generous amount of pizza sauce on each bagel half.
- Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Add your favorite toppings evenly across the cheese.
- Sprinkle the oregano and garlic powder mixture over the top of each bagel half.
- Optionally, sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese on top.
- Carefully place the baking sheet with the assembled bagels into the preheated oven.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bagels are golden brown.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the bagels cool for a couple of minutes.
- Transfer the bagels to a serving platter and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
- Serve with extra pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
