  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 cups 1x

Description

This refreshing Grapefruit Apple Cider drink blends zesty grapefruit and sweet apples with warm spices, making it perfect for warm days or cozy gatherings. Easy to prepare, it’s a delightful non-alcoholic option that can be enjoyed by all!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large grapefruits
  • 2 medium apples (preferably sweet varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp)
  • 4 cups apple cider (fresh or store-bought)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Wash the grapefruits and apples thoroughly under running water to remove any pesticides or wax.
  2. Cut the grapefruits in half and extract the juice using a citrus juicer, aiming for about 1 to 1.5 cups of grapefruit juice.
  3. Cut the apples into quarters (no need to peel) and remove the core and seeds.
  4. Blend the apple quarters with about 1 cup of water until smooth. Optionally, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove pulp.
  5. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and strained apple juice (if strained). Stir gently.
  6. Pour in the apple cider and stir to mix.
  7. Add honey if desired, stirring until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  8. Add ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground nutmeg, stirring to distribute the spices evenly.
  9. For immediate serving, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the drink over the ice.
  10. For chilling, cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors.
  11. Once chilled, stir the drink gently.
  12. Pour into glasses filled with ice, if not done already.
  13. Garnish with fresh mint and optional slices of grapefruit or apple on the rim.
  14. Serve immediately and enjoy!
  15. Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  16. Stir before serving again, as spices may settle.
  17. Freeze leftovers in ice cube trays for a refreshing addition to future drinks.
