- 4 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche or sourdough recommended)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup honey (preferably local)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh fruit for topping (sliced bananas, strawberries, or blueberries)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the softened butter.
- Pour in the honey, using a lightly greased measuring cup for easy pouring.
- Add the ground cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
- Using a hand mixer or whisk, beat the mixture until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Taste and adjust sweetness or cinnamon as desired.
- Transfer the honey butter to a small serving bowl and set aside. Refrigerate if making ahead, but let it soften before use.
- Choose your favorite thick-cut bread and slice it into 1-inch thick pieces if using a loaf.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for baking, or heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if baking.
- Spread a generous amount of honey butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place the buttered side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute.
- Place the buttered side down on the hot skillet, cooking 2-3 slices at a time.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, pressing down with a spatula for even cooking.
- Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes, adding more honey butter on top if desired.
- Take the cooked toast and top with fresh fruit.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
