Description
A refreshing twist on iced coffee, blending invigorating coffee flavors with cool, minty mojito zest. Perfect for a warm-day pick-me-up.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup freshly brewed strong coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, your preference!)
- 2 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 10–12 fresh mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 tablespoon white rum (optional, for an adult version)
- 1 teaspoon sugar (or simple syrup, if preferred)
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Mint sprigs, for garnish
- Sparkling water or club soda (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Muddle the Mint: In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, gently muddle the mint leaves with the sugar (or simple syrup) and lime juice. Press down and twist gently about 5-6 times to release the mint’s flavor.
- Add Rum (Optional): If using, add the white rum to the glass and stir gently to combine with the muddled mint, sugar, and lime juice.
- Combine Coffee Ingredients: In a separate glass or shaker, combine the cooled strong coffee, milk, simple syrup, and vanilla extract.
- Adjust Sweetness: Taste the coffee mixture and adjust the amount of simple syrup to your liking.
- Chill (Optional): For an extra cold drink, chill the coffee mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Add Ice: Fill the glass with the muddled mint mixture with ice cubes.
- Pour in the Coffee Mixture: Gently pour the coffee mixture over the ice.
- Top with Sparkling Water (Optional): If desired, top the drink with sparkling water or club soda.
- Garnish: Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of fresh mint.
- Stir and Enjoy: Give the drink a gentle stir to combine all the flavors. Be careful not to over-stir.
Notes
- Use different flavored syrups to add a unique twist.
- Add a splash of cream for a richer drink.
- Omit the rum for a mocktail version.
- Use cold brew coffee for a smoother flavor.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm spice.
- Use non-dairy milk and agave/maple syrup to make it vegan.
- Adjust the amount of mint to your preference.
- Infuse the simple syrup with mint or other herbs.
- If the drink is too bitter, use a lighter roast coffee and be gentle when muddling the mint.
- If the drink isn’t sweet enough, add more simple syrup.
- If the drink is too watery, use less ice and make sure your coffee is brewed strong.
- If the drink isn’t minty enough, add more mint leaves and muddle them gently.
