  • Author: Dottie
  • Total Time: 85 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 glasses 1x

Description

This Mango Iced Tea is a refreshing blend of black tea, ripe mango, and a splash of lime, perfect for hot summer days. Easy to prepare, it’s a delightful drink for gatherings or a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy it chilled over ice, garnished with fresh mint for an extra touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups of water
  • 4 black tea bags (or your favorite tea)
  • 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup of sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Remove the boiling water from heat and add the 4 tea bags. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your preferred strength.
  3. Remove the tea bags and stir in 1/2 cup of sugar while the tea is still warm to ensure it dissolves completely. Adjust sugar to taste.
  4. Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Peel and dice the ripe mango into small pieces.
  6. Blend the diced mango until smooth. For a chunkier texture, blend less.
  7. Mix in 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice to the mango puree and blend briefly to combine.
  8. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled tea and mango puree. Stir well to incorporate.
  9. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or acidity as needed with more sugar or lime juice.
  10. Fill tall glasses with ice cubes.
  11. Pour the mango iced tea over the ice-filled glasses.
  12. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
  13. Serve the mango iced tea right away while cold.
  14. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, stirring before serving.
  15. Pour over fresh ice and garnish again if desired.

Notes

  • Experiment with different types of tea, such as green or herbal tea, for unique flavors.
  • You can add other fruits like pineapple or peach to the mango puree for a tropical twist.
  • For a fizzy version, top off the iced tea with sparkling water or soda just before serving.
