Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start with a third of the dry mixture, then add half of the milk, and continue until everything is combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using).
- Grease a mini muffin tin or line it with mini cupcake liners.
- Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with the batter.
- Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove the muffin tin from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before transferring the mini treats to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust the treats with powdered sugar using a fine mesh sieve.
- Melt additional chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth. Drizzle over the mini treats and sprinkle with chopped nuts or chocolate shavings if desired.
- Allow the chocolate drizzle to set for about 10-15 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for quicker setting.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips.
- These treats can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Feel free to customize with your favorite nuts or add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
