Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start with a third of the dry mixture, then add half of the milk, and continue until everything is combined. Avoid overmixing.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using).
  8. Grease a mini muffin tin or line it with mini cupcake liners.
  9. Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with the batter.
  10. Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Remove the muffin tin from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before transferring the mini treats to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Once cooled, dust the treats with powdered sugar using a fine mesh sieve.
  13. Melt additional chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth. Drizzle over the mini treats and sprinkle with chopped nuts or chocolate shavings if desired.
  14. Allow the chocolate drizzle to set for about 10-15 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for quicker setting.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips.
  • These treats can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite nuts or add a pinch of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
