Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts.
- Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Check for doneness by cutting into the thickest part; it should be no longer pink.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add butter. Melt and scrape up any browned bits from the pan.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add Italian seasoning and stir well. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Stir in chopped basil leaves.
- Gradually add mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over it.
- Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
- Plate the chicken with a generous amount of creamy sauce.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves for presentation.
- Serve with pasta, rice, or a fresh green salad.
- Enjoy your Mozzarella Chicken Basil Cream Sauce!
Notes
- For added heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes when adding garlic.
- Substitute half-and-half for a lighter sauce, but it will be less rich.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding chicken broth if needed.
