Description

Enjoy these soft and chewy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, bursting with flavor and perfect for any occasion. Made with wholesome oats and rich chocolate chips, they are a delightful treat for both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  5. Fold in the rolled oats, chocolate chips, and nuts (if using) with a spatula.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer the dough to an airtight container.
  7. Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes (or longer for better results).
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Once cooled, place the cookies in an airtight container, layering them with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  13. Store at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • For best results, use old-fashioned rolled oats instead of quick oats.
  • Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite mix-ins, such as dried fruit or different types of chocolate.
