Description
Enjoy a creamy Oolong Tea Latte that blends the rich flavors of oolong tea with frothy milk and a touch of sweetness. Ideal for a cozy afternoon or a refreshing morning boost!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons loose leaf oolong tea or 2 oolong tea bags
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond, oat, or soy)
- 1–2 tablespoons sweetener (honey, sugar, or maple syrup, to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Ground cinnamon or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Start by boiling 1 cup of water in a kettle or saucepan. Aim for about 190°F (88°C) for optimal flavor extraction.
- If using loose leaf tea, place 2 tablespoons in a tea infuser or directly into the water. If using tea bags, drop them into the boiling water.
- Let the tea steep for about 3-5 minutes, adjusting the time for desired strength (4 minutes is recommended for a balanced flavor).
- Remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaves and set the brewed tea aside to cool slightly.
- In a small saucepan, pour in 1 cup of your chosen milk (unsweetened if using non-dairy).
- Heat the milk over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warm but not boiling (aim for about 150°F or 65°C).
- Froth the milk using a milk frother, whisk, or by shaking it in a sealed jar until frothy.
- In a large mug, combine the brewed oolong tea and your sweetener of choice, starting with 1 tablespoon and adjusting to taste. Stir well to dissolve.
- If using vanilla extract, add it to the tea mixture now.
- Slowly pour the frothed milk into the mug, holding back the foam with a spoon to create a layered effect.
- Spoon the remaining foam on top of the latte.
- Sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon or cocoa powder on top of the foam for added flavor and presentation.
- For a creative touch, try making latte art with the foam.
- Serve with a straw or spoon, and enjoy your delicious Oolong Tea Latte!
Notes
- The quality of your oolong tea will greatly affect the flavor of your latte. Look for high-quality loose leaf or premium tea bags for the best results.
- Experiment with different types of milk to find your favorite combination. Oat milk is particularly creamy and complements the tea well.
