Rose Black Tea Latte: A Delicious and Easy Recipe

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 1 Latte 1x

Description

Fragrant Rose Black Tea Latte with tea concentrate, rose syrup, and frothed milk. Enjoy hot or iced!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water, filtered
  • 2 tablespoons loose leaf rose black tea (or 4 tea bags)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, your preference!), plus more for frothing
  • 2 tablespoons rose syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Dried rose petals, for garnish (optional)
  • Sweetener of choice (honey, agave, sugar) to taste, if needed
  • Ice cubes (if making iced latte)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Water: Pour the 2 cups of filtered water into a saucepan and bring it to a near boil (200-212°F or 93-100°C).
  2. Steep the Tea: Remove from heat, add the rose black tea, and stir.
  3. Cover and Steep: Cover and steep for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Strain the Tea: Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-resistant container.
  5. Cool Slightly: Let the tea concentrate cool slightly.
  6. Combine Water and Sugar: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar.
  7. Heat and Dissolve: Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved. The mixture should be clear and free of any sugar granules.
  8. Add Rose Water: Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1-2 tablespoons of rose water, depending on your preference. Start with 1 tablespoon and taste, adding more if desired. Be careful not to add too much, as rose water can be quite potent.
  9. Simmer (Optional): For a thicker syrup, you can simmer the mixture over low heat for a few minutes, until it reaches your desired consistency. Keep a close eye on it, as it can thicken quickly.
  10. Cool and Store: Let the rose syrup cool completely before using. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  11. Choose Your Milk: Select your preferred milk (dairy or non-dairy).
  12. Heat the Milk: Heat 1 cup of milk in a saucepan or microwave until steaming (140-160°F or 60-71°C).
  13. Froth the Milk: Use a milk frother, French press, handheld frother, or whisk to create a thick, foamy froth.
  14. Prepare Your Mug: Warm your mug with hot water, then empty it.
  15. Add Rose Syrup: Pour 2 tablespoons of rose syrup into the mug.
  16. Add Tea Concentrate: Pour about 1/2 cup of the rose black tea concentrate into the mug.
  17. Add Vanilla Extract (Optional): If using, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mug and stir gently to combine.
  18. Pour in the Milk: Gently pour the heated milk into the mug, leaving about an inch of space at the top for the froth.
  19. Spoon on the Froth: Spoon the frothed milk onto the top of the latte, creating a thick, creamy layer.
  20. Garnish (Optional): Sprinkle a few dried rose petals on top of the froth for a beautiful and fragrant garnish. You can also add a dusting of cinnamon or cocoa powder for extra flavor.
  21. Sweeten to Taste (If Needed): Taste the latte and add sweetener of your choice (honey, agave, sugar) if needed. Stir gently to combine.
  22. Enjoy!
  23. Brew and Cool the Tea Concentrate: Follow the steps for brewing the rose black tea concentrate as described above. Allow the concentrate to cool completely. You can even chill it in the refrigerator for faster cooling.
  24. Prepare Your Glass: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  25. Add Rose Syrup: Pour 2 tablespoons of rose syrup into the glass. Adjust to taste.
  26. Add Tea Concentrate: Pour about 1/2 cup of the chilled rose black tea concentrate into the glass, over the ice.
  27. Add Milk: Pour in about 1 cup of cold milk, leaving some space at the top.
  28. Stir Gently: Stir the mixture gently to combine the ingredients.
  29. Top with Cold Foam (Optional): For an extra touch of indulgence, you can top the iced latte with cold foam. To make cold foam, simply froth cold milk using a milk fro
