Description
Enjoy a creamy Yogurt Panna Cotta, a delightful Italian dessert made with yogurt, heavy cream, and vanilla, sweetened to perfection. Topped with fresh fruits and a hint of mint, this elegant treat is ideal for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups plain yogurt (preferably whole milk yogurt)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons gelatin powder
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- Fresh fruits (like berries or mango) for topping
- Mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Measure 3 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle the gelatin powder evenly over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes to bloom.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream and granulated sugar.
- Heat over medium, stirring gently until the sugar dissolves (do not boil).
- Remove from heat and add the bloomed gelatin mixture, stirring until fully dissolved.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and allow the mixture to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Once cooled slightly, add the plain yogurt and whisk gently until smooth and lump-free.
- Pour the mixture into serving containers, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Cover with plastic wrap or lids and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- While the panna cotta sets, prepare your toppings. Wash and dry fresh fruits or make a simple fruit compote by cooking a cup of fruit with a tablespoon of sugar until thickened.
- Once set, remove from the refrigerator. If using ramekins, run a knife around the edge to loosen and invert onto a plate.
- Top with prepared fruits or fruit compote and garnish with mint leaves if desired.
- Serve immediately or keep in the fridge for a few hours before serving. Enjoy the creamy texture paired with fresh fruits!
Notes
- Use high-quality yogurt for the best flavor and texture.
- Experiment with flavors by adding lemon zest or infusing the cream with herbs before adding gelatin.
